Two day planners, one pink and one blue for 2026--2027 year.

How I am Organizing my Content Planning with a Simple Planner

As a busy working mom with hobbies and goals, I wanted to make sure that I stayed on track with my blogs. having an editorial calendar instead of just winging it. I thought about different ways to organize my blog content: digital planner, to-do list, add to my personal planner, etc.

I came up with the idea of buying a simple planner to jot down ideas and to pencil in content ideas. I was initially going to go to the dollar store to purchase planners, but I stumbled upon two journals offered at Target for a low price. They are perfect for the job.

Why I am Organizing my Blog Content

The short answer as to why I need these planners to organize my blog content is because I don’t want to rely on memory. That is the reason why I use all of my planners. I don’t want to try to remember all of my appointments, events, and grocery lists. If I wouldn’t rely on my memory in my personal life, then I shouldn’t rely on it for my blogs. Also, trying to remember things for my blog has not been working. I was reviewing some old blog post where I mentioned that I may expound on something in a later blog post, and that blog post never got written. I am hoping that these planners change that.

Also, having the content planners will allow for me to plan for seasonal content in advanced. How many times does Christmas sneak up on you? Imagine having to remember different holidays and seasons for your blog? I also want to start publishing intentionally and with some cohesion instead of random posts. This will also help me with decision fatigue. I won’t wonder from month to month as to what to post. I will already have a plan.

Why I Chose a Paper Planner

I chose a paper planner because I like to brainstorm by writing things down. Writing gets my creative juices flowing. The information sticks better with me. Besides, in today’s world, we are always on computers, phones, and tablets. Planning and blogging are things that relaxes me. I can relax with a cup of coffee or tea with my candle, and plan peacefully in my sitting area. It sets the tone for the work I want to do.

I have tried Trello and Apple calendar in the past for blog planning. The Trello system got ignored, and the Apple reminders blended in too much with my personal planning. I want to keep my blog planning separate. I believe this will help me focus more and be more organized.

How I am Going to Use My Planner

I am going to essentially use my system in a paper format. My blog planner will contain the following:

  • Blog Post Ideas
  • Social Media Posts
  • Admin Tasks for Blog

What is in the Planner

I have two planners. They are essentially the same, just different colors. I bought one for each of my blogs. They have monthly and weekly layouts which will be useful. I can get a broad view with the monthly calendar and a narrow view with the weekly calendar. Also, there is a contact page, a place for yearly goals, and a page for important dates that I plan on using too.

Will I Keep This System?

Yes. I already feel relieved having these planners. I think they are not only just pretty, but also effective for the job at hand. I wish I’d thought to use paper planners sooner. Time will tell if I continue to use paper planners for my blogs. But I don’t see any reason to change, particularly since I use planners for everything else. I predict this will make my blogging go so much smoother.
